Freda, the pine needles will help keep the slugs out of your garden. They can not slide through them. I have had great success with putting it around the hostas and this has been a great year for me, hosta wise. Now, if I can get them to stop eating the daylilies. Yes, I am in the process of putting pine needles around the beds, not every plant, but maybe in the fall I will get more. I will continue to spray the ammonia water into the crowns, they seem to like to lay eggs there. I sprayed all the ones in the bed out back and the daylilies are beautiful. Just using 20%.
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Mat.6:28-29
