You can't talk about Richard's daylilies without mentioning Coral Majority. A late bloomer that has done very well in our hot/humid climate. During my rust attack last year (my first) it remained 99.9% rust free (just in case I missed something I'll leave the percentage at that). Another one I'm pretty crazy about is Mary's Baby. It's listed with a bloom size of 4 1/2 inches, but mine is larger then that for sure. I have a thing about a daylily being colorfast/sunfast. Obviously the color/substance will be richer and deeper in the AM, but I want a still recognizable color when the cool of the evening starts to move in (no bleached out blobs of melted petals for me). Surprisingly to me, although Richard Norris is a northern hybridizer, both Coral Majority and Mary's Baby are pretty darned good in both catagories considering my climate. I'm hoping btw, that someone tries another of his deep purples, his 2013 introduction Approaching Storm. If it's anything like Mary's Baby it should be another winner..... Here is a picture of Mary's Baby taken at 7 at night after having spent the day in the sun with a 95 degree temperature. We had already hit 102 for a couple of days before this and both it and Coral Majority did remarkably well considering......Maryl
