I'm a little late to the party, but what are some of your favorite garden/non-wimpy daylilies? It's so hard to tell with all these gorgeous pictures of blooms whether the plant as a whole would fit into a garden setting nicely.

I started getting into daylilies several years ago, but that was put on hold while my kids were young. Now that I sort of have a little time to garden again, I am hoping to get things back on track. My favorite daylily this year is one that is a random seedling or NOID. It's not particulary exciting, but it has matured into a stately clump and is blooming nicely. I have also enjoyed Lighthouse Peach Jewel, but most of my named cultivars really need to be relocated into more sun, not that there are many. I am drooling over Primal Scream. It just always seems to come up as a favorite on various threads. I also added Little Boy Bob to my want list, because that picture Juli @daylily posted is so gorgeous. I guess I tend to favor the orange ones! Big Grin

I like the idea of having daylilies near peonies for a succession of blooms. I've also had in mind planting daffodils around the daylilies, which I'm sure is pretty common knowledge for those that are not newbies like me.

A question... Does leaving the seed pod on the plant hinder the plant in any way? I dabbed some pollen here and there just as an experiment and I did get several pods developing. I don't want to prevent the plants from increasing in order to produce seeds, though.
