Thought you might be interested in an update. Baited the trap several times over the past two weeks, but mostly left it open, unset and unbaited. Today found the trap occupied by a young opossum which was dead. He must have died of a heart attack or something. Funny thing is, the trap was unbaited and sitting on concrete paving stones (I learned from the raccoon and ghoundhog that leaving the trap on grass means no grass left under the trap if you catch something). Opossums must be pretty dumb.
Trap is baited to groundhogs again.
