I think you will find that the hardy Hibiscus is among the easiest plants to root this way. You might have luck in a glass of water in the window with an aquarium air stone too. Slit the end of the stem with a razor blade before sticking into the gel for quicker rooting.

Now that Dave posted the article about the Black Diamond / Ebony series Crape Myrtles not being patented....I have 3 of those going too. I think the remainder of my cuttings will be those because I want to sell them next Spring and I need to get started with as many cuttings as possible. Mine will be called 'Clint's Black Beauties™'
