Your mother's climber looks like Talisman to me. Unfortunately, the photos in HMF are deceptively dark. The Talisman in my neighbor's garden looks like your mother's. The 10-foot canes are quite common on Talisman. In fact, that's why I'm not growing it in my garden. It gets absolutely huge and throws those long canes in all directions.
Incidentally, there's a Joseph's Coat and a Jacob's Robe, but no Jacob's Coat.
