Around here in NJ, I am very careful not to rot them in Winter, I water sparingly when they are indoors and slowing down. Outdoors in Summer in active growth - the pot needs to drain well/ be fairly tight and I water with a hose and I am not gentle with that.
Light - I see absolutely no restrictions, I keep them year around in as much sunshine as possible. You see Adenium obesum all over Thailand in full sun and they thrive there.
