Hi, Caitlin,
I remember you from Dave’s Garden many years ago, and it’s great to read a post from you again. : ) I recall that you had some very fine pairings of nocturnal and diurnal daylilies along with companion plants that complemented the groupings. It was inspiring to see how seamlessly these plantings worked in your garden, and how floriferous the nocturnal and diurnals were during the early morning when you took photographs while both were in bloom. : )
You, wrote, “This morning I have a lovely "Breakfast Bouquet". last night at about 6:30 pm I picked the scapes with slightly open buds, rather than fully opened. And this morning they are all bright eyed and cheery! /…../ Guess they would all be considered "early morning openers? "
Do I understand correctly that your Breakfast Bouquet was composed of daylily scapes that you cut from the plants two evening’s ago? You should check with the moderators (@Daylily,
@Char) whether AHS would consider the subsequent performance of cut scapes, which were no longer attached to a cultivar, to qualify as EMO’s. I wouldn’t think so, but what do I know? : )
Happy gardening, Caitlin! : ) Elizabete
