That's correct.
The perennial Maximilian has a green center as well; however it's bloom is consistently considerably smaller (plant shorter too, appx. 6'). It is occasionally listed; a wild flower with a healthy multiplication factor, mine is grown next to the alley, on the other side of the fence. The 'Max' is a Monarch BF favorite.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.
