I didn't read through this whole thread, so perhaps someone else has offered the same advice.
Sedums are almost impossible to kill. If you, intentionally or accidently, break off a stem, just strip off the lower leaves and stick it in the ground. This is the way I multiply all of my sedums, and I have them coming out of my ears! You can leave them sitting out dry for quite awhile and then stick them in the ground.
