Pam, you can grow 'regular' potatoes through the winter and harvest them in the spring. You might have to protect the foliage if you get cold temps, but just an old sheet or cardboard box will do it.

The sweet potatoes need warmth, so you could even plant them after you harvest your other potatoes, in the spring after danger of frost, so mid-March where you are?
