Have never grown Gold Bar, have grown Early Silver Line an Asian crisp melon in the same class. Fresh, they taste like a cuke with sugar on it. They are popular in the orient for pickling and are listed in some Asian catalogues as pickling melons. Never tried that approach myself but I applaud your success with it.
