I know what you mean. I moved from a town in Wyoming which is semi-desert to the country in Minnesota where there wasn't anything but grass and weeds. Everything grew differently from what I was used to. It took a while but I found that even though I'm in a colder zone here I can grow things I couldn't in Wyoming. I bet once you get started and get something planted you will get excited again.
