I use fish emulsion sometimes but I find if you just dry them out and move them out of the bright sun/light, they come back but it takes awhile. The color of the stem will not affect it blooming. I have some in the greenhouse that turn pink when they get too much sun and they are still beautiful bloomers. Give them some normal fertilizer too and see it that does not help.
