When we were fulltime RVers, we would cross Texas twice a year on our way south and I always enjoyed the wildflowers along the roads in the spring. If we hit it at the right time, it was just stunning to see acres and acres of color. I always said a silent 'thank you' to Lady Bird Johnson for those beautiful flowers. I don't know if she was really responsible for them but it is what I had been told. When I was growing up in Calif, in the spring the hills would be a solid mass of gold from the poppies, there are so few areas left that they can grow in, I don't know if they still put on such a show.
