Wow - love the photos, Linda. Your article really takes me back to a time when fields weren't manicured and when herbicides weren't used to rid the pastures of "weeds". 'Way back then, farmers tolerated wild flowers. They would raise sheep to follow the cattle through the fields because the sheep preferred the broadleaf "weeds" that the cattle wouldn't eat. Then the pigs would clean up whatever the others left behind and the chickens would clean up after the pigs. It was a win-win situation and that's what we used to call a farm. And it was a beautiful time, indeed!
