More cold. Last night got to 30.9° Last freeze of the season or one of the last? Yesterday I did something really illogical. I went in a nursery and (gasp!)....yes, I sinned, I bought plants just because I wanted to! Must do penance by trying to repot or plant them.

I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
