Peter,

and yes we almost have too many reds and purples now. I grew up when the "green with purple tips" types were about 75% of what we had. I want something different. I want year round color. It is interesting to me that it appears that the semps seem to follow two paths for year round color: ones that keep the same colors and others that change, often radically.

As I was looking at the seedlings today I'm very excited about some cobwebbed seedlings from 'Jungle Shadows', 'Harlequin Rogue', and 'Watermelon Rind' that I hope will be BIG and with unusual colors. Too many cobwebs look alike. I had self pollinated 'Kramer's Spinrad', which is one of the bigger cobweb types for me, and several of the seedlings are much bigger, already 4" in diameter from seed planted this spring. However, the biggest seedling has the least impressive cobweb at this point. It may be difficult to produce hairs of sufficient length to produce a cobweb on these bigger rosettes. The dream of a 9" purple cobweb might be a difficult one to obtain!
