Michelle, that head table is gorgeous! Is the glassware prizes? I noticed that the vases are all the same in the picture of the judges. Do all of the daylilies get put into the same style of vase for a reason? I thought if I entered one, it would be displayed in the vase I took it in. I will definitely have to go next year and pay attention!

Yes the glassware are the prizes. Some clubs do plaques, crystal trophies, other type of glassware while others do gift cards (the money kind and the ones for certain merchants) or garden art type things. And then there are clubs who just do the purple ribbons/rosettes. It really depends on how much money a club has or wants to spend on these things.

Using the same vases keeps everything looking uniformly (did I say that right). We actually have some taller vases and some small ones to accommodate the taller flowers (like some spiders) and the miniature ones, but they look just like the others and are the same color. If everyone brought in there own vases it may look like a jumbled mess; not all vases are the same size/height so it just keeps it neat looking.
Another thing is that it wouldn't be feasible for some people to have to bring their own vases since they enter 40, 50, 60 or more flowers and it would be hard to transport that many vases. Here's a link to the various ways we transport the flowers to the show http://www.daylilies.org/Trans...
Now if a person only enters a few them bringing them in vases would be fine but they just won't stay in them. Now the club that puts on the show where you are may do it differently, but most provide the vases.
You will see different ones at different shows also. I have seen wine bottles in clear and a gorgeous blue, PVC pipe (bottom sealed so water stays in) that fits into wooded bases, among other things.

I would definitely try and go next year. It doesn't take much to go out and cut a few scapes and take them to the show. They should have an area set up to do the grooming of the scape before it gets placed on the table.
