I have gone the Alfalfa meal route instead of the pellets. I am a cheapskate and the meal was much cheaper than the pellets. I did have to go to the next county over (Lancaster PA) into Amish country and buy it from the Amish or Mennonite store. I coupled this with a visit to a friends house/garden to talk iris!
