Daylily, Iris or "Plectranthus"?

Whichever, I still wouldn't know, but it may help someone else answer.
Also, once you specify "Iris" or "Daylilly", we have a forum for each of those, and no doubt people who know how to manage either kind of plant in extreme conditions.

I see the daylily can go down to Zone 3 (-40 F = -40 C), so I assume you're good there.
Does your part of Nevada get very cold at night even in summer? That might be an issue.

Even though some descriptions say "full sun", they might not be thinking of Nevada / summer / Noon "full sun".

Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Velvet Elvis')
Spur Flower (Plectranthus 'Velvet Elvis')
Louisiana Iris (Iris 'Red Velvet Elvis')
