Update.
DBH says he think the voles are under control. He checked the bait stations and for the first time no activity. Let us hope.
I have been able to plant seeds which are flowering now in that long bed. Last year every seed I planted there mysteriously disappeared. Progress.
But complacent never. I realize the voles are probably all around us and can move in again, so the bait stations stay in place. They are great because you really don't notice them.
