I can't believe some of your cold temps already! I am a cold weather baby, I freak out and we didn't even get down to freezing. On behalf of my plants, I dislike the cold. If it could be a constant 77º I and they would be happy! But then I wouldn't be living in Houston, right? My new little greenhouse is full of tropical plants. The garage is 1/3 full. I don't know if I actually gained any room by adding the greenhouse? What?? You mean I have more plants than last year?? No way!! Not ME!! Rolling on the floor laughing I counted 15 new pots of bromiliads alone. Since the rains are coming along with 80º temps on Saturday, I kept my plants warm with the heater on a timer on and off and on and off 30 mins at a time all night long. Is that how you do it?? I thought the risk of fire is lower if the heater is on in short bursts instead of on for longer periods. The little radiant heater heats up the 12' x 6' fairly fast even with out a fan. I am trying to acclimate them slowly instead of these crazy up and down temps we have been getting. Call me crazy and I will agree!
