Interesting remark Paul -- referring to *blood*lines in a plant. I can't think of an alternative term though...................

I agree Lucy -- and I rely on the foliage when separating Irises that have grown too close together. In addition to some having pbf, some have uncharacteristically white leaf bases. Some have longer, thinner rhizomes -- some have fat, round rhizomes. Being aware of that has prevented some identification problems for me, and I think this information would be worthwhile to share.
