Rust. I remember reading about it and the problems in America - always with a bit of a smile that it won't happen here. Then one day it was just there. I couldn't believe it. I don't know if it arrived on one of my bought plants. Now after 6 years some of the plants are coping better, some are quite resistant but some I don't know what to do with. How have other people coped with rust who have semis and evergreens? With the worst hit cultivars, should one just pull up and incinerate?
I don't leave any old leaves about anymore. Also I periodically clean the plants up by removing infected foliage and burning it. I spray but I don't see any obvious results.
One of my worst hit was Hearts and Lace. It always flowers well but I think it suffers from chlorophyll deprivation and is not a great bush.
