By "automatic" I thought it mean that they were pneumatic as opposed to just propping them open. You mean they are electronic or battery operated some how? No ladder??? That would be my wish! Maybe I missed that part?
I think you have to call HF directly for the clips. I haven't gotten that far. Maybe we can use the coupon for those, too? Here is that part of the blog:

They seem to keep these in stock in the Harbor Freight warehouses, so in my experience they ship pretty quickly. (But it never hurts to order early.)
