Hope this helps to answer your question. I am not sure how a 'deer protected area' relates to propagating plants in a Forsythe Pot, but I am sure that you will not know if this method will work for you unless you give it a try. You have almost nothing to lose and much to gain by trying.

Several of these pots going at the same time in my small yard space, always out of direct sunlight. One side of my house is shaded by trees and an overhang; on the other side I keep an old beach umbrella to create a bit of shade. One Forsythe Pot is under the shelf of my 'potting bench' (fancy term for old kitchen sink propped up by two discard fish tank stands.) You could maybe construct a shelter using some Shade Cloth.

I just had a quick look to see what kind of plants you are growing; maybe you could place the Forsythe Pot on the ground in the shade/shelter of one of your larger rose bushes.
