Now Im very fussy about my tools. I like them clean and sharp and I like tools that fit me. Im 72, five foot six inches, and female.

My garden tools keep me in shape and they keep me independent. I live alone, and I don't want to postpone my activities waiting for a male person to show up. So thinking about tools that FIT women is something I do a lot of. So I enjoyed reading this article.

I agree, managing the rip cord on a gas powered chain saw or lawn mower is one of the hardest things for a woman to navigate.

But one thing I have learned is that short handled tools are not necessarily the answer to a shorter person. A long handled shovel gives you more leverage for hefting a shovelful of dirt or manure for example.
