Thanks Betty and Michele! I was mainly focused on the rain. I was thinking it was the rain that caused it to release fertilizer and that in a place that gets a lot of rain the slower release would be better. Now I know the temps have a lot to do with it too.
I would hope the 9 month release would get me through the growing season but with temps near 100 most of the time it might need to be reapplied. I will have to monitor the temps and rain. Last summer was not as bad as usual and winter came early for us, 4 cold fronts in August which is usually the most active month for storms and scorching heat!

@tink3472..Thanks for the link about the fertilizer. How big is that bag of Florikan/ Nutricote? (61.59)
