Teresa - This is how I got it from the vendor. They had potted the rhizome in August and I got it in late February. I only pot irises for two reasons; the plant needs alot of TLC and may croak or I am selling it. Irises can only really be in a pot for one season before they out grow it. They much prefer the garden so they can spread their roots out. The pot is too confining in the long term. Still, I have heard of folks who do pots and have no real issues. Just not my cup of tea.
