Dessert there is definitely a treat. Too bad Marionberries are not in season as they make this marvelous crisp with them and peaches mixed. Served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream there isn't much better. Of course the tiramisu and the creme brulee are nothing to sneeze at either. The chicken saltimbocco is one of my favorites there along with the fisherman's stew. Hmm, why am I hungry?

Of course I'm making a pot of clam chowder today. You can take a boy out of MA but you can't take MA out of the boy!!

By the way I was out looking yesterday and the cold did some damage to certain cultivars. the heuffeliis all look good but some of the semps are really crisped. Of course we had a wet October that was mild and then BOOM right into winter. The plants (or the gardener) weren't ready for that. Have you noticed that on some of yours too Lynn? 'Tarita' was one of the most affected. Too bad as i was going to use it as a parent. Of course 19 years out of 20 this wouldn't be a problem. There were a couple seedlings that just turned BLACK and died. Odd too as this would be ~1 out of 50 that would do this. in some crosses, none at all.

Years ago I tried to grow 'Commander Hay' in MA and it did the same thing there. It was the only semp I ever lost to winter. Even there I would allow the oak leaves to cover the semp beds and of course they had several feet of snow above that for protection too.
