Thank you Brook, I don't know how much you know about the science of plants. During the day we humans breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. The plants need the carbon dioxide and turn it into oxygen for us to breathe. Many plants take bad stuff out of the air like formaldehyde, acetone, toluene and other stuff I can't remember. (Rick is very knowledgeable on chemistry.) These things come into the air on new clothing, paint, and clothes that are dry cleaned in addition to many other ways. Spider plants are well known for cleaning the air and Pothos is at the top of the list too. There are some good youtube videos on this.

Just don't do what I did which is to care for them so much that I ended up killing them in the process. It will take a good month or so before you know if they are making progress. There is also time lapse photography of plants growing on youtube. It is kind of fun to watch.
