I love this rose. I grow it near the Texas Gulf Coast and it survives our hot humid summers and is drought tolerant. I do not spray or fertilize my roses except with compost. It has lost its leaves to exceptional heat some summers but always bounces back in the fall. Spring, fall, and into the winter it is seldom without blooms, and it does, indeed, maintain itself as a tidy, vase-shaped shrub.
