Birds are definitely our friends when it comes to insect control!

I live in Florida where we have many year-round resident birds and also many northerner birds that migrate here during the winter. I've heard folks say we should never feed birds during the summer but I feed seed and suet year-round and the birds still help with the insect control. We have a bunch of tiny little Warblers visiting the area now and they are constantly eating tiny gnats. Our screened porch is right on the water and those little birds will cling to the screen picking off the gnats. Spring is on the way and I will miss our winter visitors when they head back north in the next month.
