I have two of the lace wing Wyandottes and they seem to be pretty reliable layers. Strangely, they are also among the few who have figured out how to get out of the coop, even though they are heavier than some of my other hens (they fly-flop out then hop back in by way of a nearby wood stack). I call them the Pretty Girls, they really are striking, especially when the sun catches their feathers. Have fun with your chicks. I am almost a year into my hens and still have my original 10 hens plus 1 rooster (who is not long for this world, he has a nasty disposition). My best layers are the buff orpingtons (aka the Blonde Squad). My worse tempered in a little banty who is very quick to peck when I'm checking for eggs.
