There is lots of us who go out of our way to help others, asking nothing in return. Like you, I also have a small business (tropical plants). If I did not sell to strangers, I would have no business at all. My philosophy when it comes to my customers is that I would rather have them as a friend than make a sale to them. Every year I have some sort of plant that I just have too much of. I make that plant(s) available to all who want it and only ask for postage. Last summer I shipped out approximately 36 boxes of 'White Butterfly' ginger rhizomes/plants, with only the postage being paid by those I sent it to. I lost money on doing that, since I charged nothing for my time, nothing for the cost of packaging, and nothing to pay for getting the boxes to the post office.
