Welcome! Flowerlover! I'm kinda lazy ... I just use the daylily database here in ATP to create lists (have, want, even very narrow categories like "unusual doubles") and I make notes in the notes section to help me analyze whether I really want those cultivars. If I see two red double evergreens in my want list, I can usually decide that I'd like to try the one that is an extended rebloomer, for example, and then let the other one go into the trash can. Makes my lists somewhat manageable, is easy to access and update with new ones as they come along, and clean out the daylilies that drop to 2nd or 3rd choice when compared with similar cultivars. The great thing about ATP's "My Plant Lists" is that you can try out one type of collection (by hybridizer or by color, etc) and then as you find what works best for you the cultivars can easily be moved into other categories. Or you can keep redundant lists (save a cultivar to both a hybridizer's list and a color list) so you can compare each way.

You can also designate whether each list is public or private, so if you hope to trade plants you can go public with one list, while keeping other lists private (like cultivars that might get culled if they don't perform once you have them).

Just go here and the pages will walk you through the process: http://garden.org/lists/

It took a little while for me to get the hang of it, but now I love the lists! And, when I order daylilies, I can refer to the list to make sure that I don't miss an offering that I might have been looking for, especially from sellers who do not have a lot of pictures but rather put up a textual price list. Like others, I track the prices also so that I can make sure to check where to cluster my purchases.
