2 years ago I bought an oregano plant from Lowe's. The tag is long gone, but I think it was vulgaris?

Anyway, I read somewhere that the kind I had purchased was no good for culinary uses, so I have never bothered to harvest from it, and figured one of these days I'd dig it out & put something else there. But what do you all think?
