I'm not sure about 'speeding up' growth, but from what I have heard is that they really prefer to be under potted or root bound, and it can be years before they will bloom. I have 2 that were started as cuttings. I've had them about 3 years now…They have been growing really well, but I haven't seen a bloom yet. Sad
