Rita I love that you can just fill your driveway with extra pots and grow your plants. If I did that I could just make a sign for it saying Deer Buffet.

Planted Peas on Saturday only to have the Squirrels dig them up. Only had a few peas left so they are now planted in buckets with crates over the tops so the Squirrels can't dig them up.

Spent the morning flipping two 4' X 4' compost heaps that have been sitting all winter. I think I finally figured out how to layer the heap so it heats up and breaks down throughout the winter. I bring home about half a 55 gallon bag full of veggie and coffee grind waste from work M-F. I also have my own kitchen scraps plus the neighbor gives me hers. All winter long I layer dried leaves, grass clippings and straw that I have collected along with tons of shredded black and white paper, grocery bags, and card board to each layer of veggie I add. (helps that I have a professional paper shredder) I also layer in the wood ash from the fireplace. One heap looks like it will be ready to Mantis in a few weeks. The other is breaking down nicely. Still have one heap half filled with ready to go Black Gold for the Garden and one more heap to flip. I'm gonna leave my long term heap alone til later in the summer. My long term heap is where I put all the sticks and rough stuff piled in with veggie scraps and leaves.
