Use the panty hose.....I've found that there is less chance of cutting into the plant. I use it for mounting Orchids, Bromes, Dischidia's, Hoya's ..well anything really that can be mounted. Also pad the base of your Brome's with just a bit of well soaked Sphagnum Moss, does two things, keeps provide moisture till they get established, and protects the plant from whatever material you use to tie your plants to the tree.
God gave us wings. He just called them horses
