When my Dad was still alive, he and my Mom would travel to Gulf Shores Alabama to buy 50 lb bags of pecans in the shell. They bought one of these nutcrackers and it is fantastic for pecans. Dad made a lot of things, and on thing was a set of saw horses with the top made from 2 x 8's. Dad didn't use them much any more and so he drilled holes in each end of the nutcracker and screwed it onto the top of the saw horse. Mom would straddle the saw horse and crack those nuts in no time! Nearly all the time they would come out in complete halves. I still have the cracker and the saw horse, but we don't have the strength to do the cracking. We just order 3 lbs cracked and have them shipped for holiday baking. So - if anyone loves pecans and would like to order a LOT from Sandy -- this would be a great way to get them all cracked open in a jiffy!
