Nutall's Thistle (Cirsium nuttalii) popped up in my garden for the first time this year and I've found eight plants in the same area of the yard; one is now about 6' tall and going to seed. I've kept it around because I read that it attracts Butterflies and last week we spotted a hummingbird checking out the blooms!

Bull Thistle (Cirsium horridulum) is found all over around the central part of the state. I see it along roadsides a lot.

Spiny Sow-thistle (Sonchus asper) is a weed that I've seen a lot of this year too but it's not pretty like the Cirsium!
