Final garden seen: Ladybug (Hansen)
We didn't make it to Ladybug garden last year because by the time we were ready to go, we were worn out. If you went to the Mecca last year, you will recall that it was probably 10 degrees hotter last year than it was this year, and people were hot and tired.
So it was that we met Dan Hansen for the first time on Saturday. He's an interesting guy, and if he was any more laid back he'd be horizontal (and I mean that as a compliment).
My first impression of Ladybug Garden was that it has an unprepossessing appearance (I've always wanted to be able to use that word), but as we all know, appearances can be deceiving.
His plants are laid out in rows, and the named ones have tags in front of each row. Tags, complete with prices. The only problem was that his water has so much rust in it that the labels began to turn brown very quickly. That being said, I was able to photograph the tag, and then the daylily in many cases, and probably got more names on photos in his garden than anywhere else. Some of the labels weren't totally legible, but a quick check of the good old AHS database enabled me to identify 95% of them.
