The pennies that are made today, I think are not copper, but made of zinc, and who knows what else...mostly Zinc, and a bit of copper...I don't believe that there would be any harm to your animals...But you also will not see any benefit in your birdbath...It would be the copper that would help in keeping it clean...Pennies have little to no copper in them today...

And where are my manners!?!?!
