Sounds great to me, Deb! I know my Dad is always saying that he lives in the high desert, and I do think that his area of Oregon is considered to be just that. Or, he's come up with his own name for it, and it fits. Maybe high desert would fit for both desert plains and high plateaus? Either way, I like what you wrote, just as it is!
