My Huglekultur is contained with every leftover brick from my yard plus a few more purchased bricks. Have finished leveling the soil on the back side of the Huglekultur to create a narrow bed for sunflowers. The Huglekultur itself is about 5'x20'. You will have to click on the photos to see the entire area. I used a panorama app to get the photos.

Tried planting out some cucumber starts but the slugs mowed them down. Will wait until the remaining starts are much bigger before trying to put them in the ground next time.

I tossed out seeds for some cole crops on and around the mound but am not expecting much. Hopefully with the added dirt on top they won't get eaten as soon as the sprout.

Wish I had read the article about adding high nitrogen fertilizer on top of the logs before I started burying them. It is supposed to lessen the time of the initial break down of the logs and provide a better first year environment for crops. I may make one more smaller Huglekultur this summer. Have another area that might be good for another semi raised bed using this method. It will be especially handy when we do our much needed summer pruning the first of July. Always have more branches than we can easily get composted. This has been a marvelous way to take care of what was a very big mess.
