Quite a nice range of colors even after the deluge of rain. Thanks, Fred, for your nudge about UF - made me go look and see the detailed definitions for each of them, and now I can see that the second seedling does not fit. I also tried to find a very distant UF relative to compare with:



That helped me to see that the seedling's petals do not taper in the very marked way a UF would, nor does it have the cascading curl or quilling like different photos of Sisters in Pink show. I learned that these unusual forms evolved from the spider category since longer petals and sepals would allow for the extra curling and pinching - the reliable features that appear in UFs. Learning a lot from all of you! Thumbs up
