They can't use seeds from the plant because it won't come true to the mother plant. They usually wait up to 5 years to sell an introduction to make sure they have enough of it. I imagine they do plant the prolifs also. By lining them out also, they increase more rapidly. Some use BAP which causes the plants to increase more rapidly but I am just guessing at this by saying the majority do not use any chemical means to increase plants.

The seeds from a plant will produce an entirely different plant.
