Awesome, thanks both of you! I know that there was a thread on "what you look for in keepers" or something like that, and did read it back when, but you guys narrowed it right down to ... what is most important to have in place first (not just overall).
So, scapes ... I have some that are thin but wiry-strong and wave gently in the breeze (so enchanting). I think I remember Fred or Lyle speaking to Dip spiders being preferred because you want a bit of give to see them animate. And, on the other hand, just this morning I went to check one of those massive, thick, straight rebar scapes for blooms and found it had snapped off at a node under the buds. What's up with that?! I don't think it could have been a critter because it is surrounded with a wire fence ... and about 8 buds lay limp on the ground right under it.
Other thoughts about the different kinds of scapes there are, why you value them or not, and how you'd use them ... or change them? I also have some Tet scapes that are firm, but so bent over to the ground that the blooms barely stay above the soil. Is that seen, or should I check on whether they are ill or having the equivalent of "bad hair day"?
Let me know if it's still preferable to start a different thread, but I'm really interested in thoughts from those who are actively working with seedlings, and really appreciate the focused and helpful experience you have to give.
